ROB'S SWIM POND
Rob was having some issues with his neat little pond that he built himself a few years back. It was getting full sun and didn't have enough water flow to filter the pond which was causing the water to go green. We also discovered that the edges were deteriorating and needed to be rebuilt. The flagstone edges were collapsing into pond. We removed everything and started from scratch. We installed high end pumps, a nice big Savio skimmer and a bog pond filtration system. This was a pond system we have wanted to install for a while. A great design that helps eliminate hours of pond maintenance and keeps the water filtered with plants and gravel. There are a lot of gorgeous granite rocks in this pond with large pieces that allow you to sit or stand on the very edge of this beautiful ecosystem pond.
There are so many great aspects to this pond that make this pond a very amazing water feature. 3 pumps allow the entire pond to be circulated 4 times an hour or more, pumping the water up through the gravel in the upper pond. The pond water gets filtered and cleaned through the plants in the upper pond. It flows down two streams and over two falls. Water is pumped from the bottom of the pond and through two skimmers. One pump also takes water up to a waterfall filter above the bog pond.
Rob's Pond - Face Lift
The old pond bare and ready for an upgrade. We began tearing the old pond apart and crating a new canvas to create a masterpiece. We started to create new steps for the rocks to sit on
Rob's Pond - waterfall
Here you can see the bricks and blocks we added to reinforce the waterfall that allowed us to achieve a 24" drop into the pond from the upper pond in the back.
Liner and wall construction. We built new reinforced walls along the cement walkway and patio with a drainage channel to prevent heaving and water damage along the patio. We also built a study retaining wall that supports the entire waterfall area.
Adding 8 tons of granite rock to the pond. Still needed more!
Wow! Look at all those beautiful rocks. All it needs is some plantings and it will look amazing!
Rob's Pond - Granite Rocks
Rinsing the rocks after we finished placing all the granite rocks of various sizes.
This photo was taken right after the old liner was removed.
Rob's pond completed... Looks great with the blue pond tint to help keep the algae down.
