Swim Pond ExcavationThis pond was 40'x25' plus the upper stream and bog pond which added another 15 feet to the dimension. When finished it was approx 40'x40' . Four and five tiers of steps down to four feet deep. | Large Swim Pond Project - DesignThis was the initial design we came up with. It got a bit bigger... And BIGGER! | Swim Pond - Rock ledgesThese are the ledges or tiers to places boulders and rocks on so they dont slide into the bottom of the pond. Liner and underlayment are added next. | Swin Pond Liner InstallationThe boys from Orchid Gardenscapes helping to install the 50'x35' liner. It felt like it was 500 lbs! | Swin Pond - Watefall InstallationPicking the rocks for the waterfall. All twenty tonnes had to be moved by rock cart and by hand. We moved every rock three times or more! | Swim Pond - Adding BouldersWe thought we had plenty of huge granite boulders for this project. There is never enough big rocks! | Swim Pond - Waterfall TestAfter getting the waterfall foamed up we tested the flow from the two pumps. Gorgeous chipped granite rock and red, black and green. | Swim Pond - Rocking the StepsWe added various sizes of granite river rock and rinsed it a few times. It looks so neat when it is wet! | Swim Pond - PlantingsAdding plants and edge treatments to break up the rocky look. After few seasons of growth this will look even more incredible! | Swim Pond - Flagstone PatioOn the left is the flagstone patio area that is a peninsula, that juts out into the pond, allowing access to the main areas of interest with an amazing view of the area. A perfect spot to sit and enjoy the many relaxing elements of the pond. | Swim Pond - Stream and PatioThe stream flows down from the upper pond and then turns to the waterfall spillway. The patio is right next to the stream and the falls | Swim Pond - Filling upAll the rocks are in and we added the pond lights and filled it up. The waterfall worked out really well and Gabriel was excited to see it coming together. | Swim Pond - 5500 gallonsI estimated this pond to be about 5500 -6500 gallons. Gabriel has a well that has pristine water in it. | Swim Pond - Waterfall lightsWe installed low wattage water proof pond lights that point at, and accent the waterfall. This is an amazing element that allows night time enjoyment of the pond area. | Swim Pond - Gold FishWe rescued some goldfish and gave them a new home. They love their new palace. | Swim Pond - PlantingsWe added lots of plants in the upper bog pond to help filter and clean the pond. We put in Mint, Iris, Pickerel Reed, Cat Tail, Water Celery and Parrots Feather. We planted around the edges with some low maintenance perennials and added some additional garden space to allow for more plants in the future. | Swim Pond - FinishedWe finished the pond and it looks incredible! Gabriel and his family loved it and swam in it right away. We added some gold fish. Nailed it! | Swim Pond Design #2This was the second design we came up with. | Swim Pond Design #3Gabriel and Mary really liked this design. The pond I always wanted to build. A ponders dream... We did one final design that we all loved and Gabriel even wanted it bigger! At 4 feet deep, 40' feet is as far as you can go with a fifty foot liner roll. |
